MS.
CALICO
An Ode In Praise About
My Precious Pet
Penelope
By Izzy Ess Of Happiness
Ms. Precious Princess
Penny, my cute kitten,
Now a full-grown cat,
is quite a lovely,
Friendly,
prone-to-purring, quite expressive
Room-mate, Calico,
who lets me know
When she is sleepy,
hungry, playful and
In need of scentless,
clumping litter, eh?
She stalks and eats all
insects, house flies, horse
Flies, spiders, fruit
flies, moths, all centipedes
And millipedes and ants. She sometimes jumps
Into the air and uses
both her paws
To swiftly grab all
flying or high crawling
Little creepy crawlers
who invade
Our tiny sanctuary,
cozy, closet-
Like apartment on the
third floor of
An ancient elevator-less
construction
With some hardwood
floors and colourful
Linoleum. She seems to relish her
Abilities to be a
hunter and
To eat the
enemies. Oft, after chewing
Them and swallowing
them, she’ll just glance
At me with her quite gorgeous
eyes and give
Me such a self-satisfying
look of
Great victory and
innocence, combined.
It’s obvious she wants
to imitate
My writing and my
painting, eh? She’ll jump
Upon my desk and walk
across my keyboard
Making my computer do
some things
I cannot do. She’ll put her paws right on
My freshly painted
images and change
Them quite
significantly right before
My eyes. She likes to sit on window sills
With visions of
successful captures of
The many birds and
squirrels that cleverly
Avoid her territorial
imperatives
Which she stakes out
with her distinct saliva
That she spreads with
her cute corner of
Her mouth. I love to watch her tiger yawn
And get a vision of her
innate wildness
Which she demonstrates
from time to time
In her control of all
the insects that
We have. She’s very deft with ping pong balls
And rears up on her
legs to bat them back
Toward me, when I
bounce the balls to try
And get them by her in
the hall.
She’s learned to chew
not on my plants lest I
Do sternly call her by
her lengthy name,
Penelope, which does
displease her, eh?
She likes to the drink
the water from my water-
Filled old turkey
baster which I use
To gently rain upon my bathroom
greenery,
Including my surprising
ginger plants
And avocado saplings. Love is what
I feel for my quite
beautiful and clever,
Agile and supportive
company.
She is the finest
room-mate I have ever
Had. Right now she is just gently mewing
To get me to just
stroke her head and back
And lovely tail. She licks my fingers so
That I can use her
moisture in my combing
Of her hair with
fingering she loves.
She’s indicating it
would be OK
If I just stopped this
typing and accepted
Her upon my chest and
stomach so
That she can purr and
make me feel so loved,
As she feels so loved,
I believe. I sense
That I will live my
life, henceforth, with her
Beside me and it makes
me feel so great
To have her with me. I do love you, Precious
Princess Penny. Happiness is ours,
Forevermore, as we
spend precious hours
Together playing soccer
with our ping
Pong balls and just
together listening
To jazz and classical
great music on
The radio from Buffalo,
Toronto
And important news from
BBC
About events in Jersey,
Galilee,
Schenectady and the
Sargasso Sea.

END
