IT’S SHOWTIME, FOLKS
Comments on the Magic Box
Plus a Blessing for my
Soul-Mate
By Izzy Ess of Magic-ness
An Adoration of the Magi
brings to mind that magic is indeed effective for some folks who look to gain
control of minds of men and women and their children. Children of the world are mainly mesmerized
by television programming just aimed at them and often tell their parents which
of several cereals are better for their health and happiness. It’s easy to observe the fixed unblinking
stares that kids have riveted on television screens. I read that Social Studies found that kids
believe the screen brings magic to their lives and aren’t aware of how the
medium [slash] message deeply influences them at tender ages and continues to
affect their moods, behaviour and their choices for consumption,
all-inclusively for their entire lives.
This includes their choices for their kith and kin, mates and heroes,
all religions, politics and sexual behaviours, eh?
[I studied under the
McCluen, Marshall, of the textbook, Message-Medium at Canada’s Toronto
University, in 1955 and 1956.]
It’s mainly true of
adults, too. Most men are mainly drawn
to sports events while women watch the soaps and shopping channels, cooking
shows and Ms. Degeneris, et al. Of
course, there are exceptions, even crossing overs. I’m sure you’re all aware that advertisements
and the contents of the shows show women who are the smartest in the family, just
taking full control of budgets for the food and clothing, household furniture,
etc., because it has been shown that North American good wives spend all the
household money, even on the cars, which must be used for hauling kids and
groceries, so many household items and the steaks for barbequing, clean pressed
clothes, the pizza and fried chicken and the underwear.
Old traditions leave
the usual control of stereos, the beer and the man’s car to husbands. It is easy to observe the wide-eyed, never
blinking stares of women in the supermarkets and the men in auto showrooms.
This must be old hat to you, but what you may not know is how computers, movies,
iPods, cell phones, magazines and all the television images are quite
mesmerizing to all hard-working, targeted good folks. Most folks are not aware of how the modern
electronic, small and large, devices really work, so in effect they are still
“magic.”
Perhaps, I’m just in
love with theories of conspiracy.
Perhaps I’m too aware of how Pavlov’s Russian dog experiments did
demonstrate the way a ringing bell makes someone reflexly quite hungry. And, perhaps I have a strong opinion of the
value of the findings by those psychoanalysts who have discovered basic strong
associations with the sensory input and mood, behaviour and ideas of
philosophy, religion and, of course, some sex and politics, which may be
strongly correlated with the facts and quite illogical behaviours of majorities
of people. So, perhaps I may be wrong
about assuming that there is a reason why some folks mess up the things they
do, and repeatedly repeat their errors through their life-times. While perhaps, things are the way they are
and that’s the total story sans the underlying fierce activity of brains of everyone. Perhaps there is a higher power that controls
the predetermined world and no one should attempt to fight the Will of God. Perhaps there really is an evil Devil which
persists in causing sin because it is much less confusing to just blame an evil
spirit than to take responsibility for one’s own errors and to see that making
errors is a human trait.
That’s all she wrote
except for my best wishes to my soul- mate, Sue, who patiently has answered all
my questions with a satisfying peace that comes from her relationship to Jesus
and the Power of His Love. I feel the
Spirit easily, just like when, my friend and mentor, Jacob, and I used to talk
about the Old and Newer Testaments.
There was a light inside his head and heart which I could just as easily
make out as any headlights or the search lights that can light up the
clouds. The lights in Jacob were so
brightly shining for his Saviour, Friend and Holy Spirit, Jesus, just as I can
visualize, across the pond, the lights that shine with every word that Susan
writes. Her transatlantic images are
sharp enough for me to see with clarity.
I feel what you see,
Sue, in every word that God has written for you and just everyone. I feel it with the thought that someday soon
the Spirit of the Lord will be received by me for Everlasting Peace and
Harmony, a vital answer to the Demons that can flit around my thinking brain
and cloud my vision, frequently, of The Creator, Universal Lord of
Everything. God Bless you, Sue. May God protect you and return you safely,
sound and happy, to your loving family and friends, right after rehab and your
ankle surgery. I’ll end by saying I feel
Jesus sent you to me, to ensure that I achieve the peace that so far has eluded
me.
THE END
