The Earl of Effingham, lit
up his big
Cigar,
removed his dinner jacket, big
Bow
tie and frilly blouse, turned down the lights,
Locked
all the doors and windows and the cabinets,
And
went for Lady Esther Queen, the Queen
Of
Salisbury, who had followed Jim
Into
the smoking room, continuing
To
babble on about the situation
At
the Royal Book Society
About
the latest fluffle re the Daniel
Peter
Miller novel, Ecstasy
In
Blue, which told the torrid story of
The
Princess Geneviève and the Prince
Of
Sarajevo, both unknowingly,
The
children of the King of Kush and Mistress
Eloise
La Belle, both reared in secret
Orphanages
in two different countries,
Poland
and The Netherlands, identified
As
royalty because of blue
And
purple blemishes in private places,
In
the shape of sailing vessels, only
Seen
by monks and nuns, who even kept
The
orphans tightly under wraps and under
Burlap
underwear, for more than eighteen
Years
of age, while teaching all the children
How
to dress and strip without a glimpse
Of
skin below the neck, except for hands
And
feet, a cruel and totally unfruitful
Custom
that was taught to all the children
Of
the Roman Catholic Monasteries
And
the Nunneries, until just recently,
When
Pope Samantha studied Child
Psychology
and Normal Child Development,
And
realized that this old custom
Was
traumatically shocking later
On,
when adolescents, old and young
Adults,
who weren’t becoming monks and nuns,
Re-entered
their societies and started
Having
interchanges with the unencloistered
Population,
which included
Royalty,
especially including
Handsome
James Earl Ellingham, the Earl
Of
Effingham and lovely Lady Esther
Queen,
the Queen of Salisbury, who
Spontaneously
followed suit by taking
Off
her sparkling evening gown, her diamond
Tiara,
necklaces and bracelets
And
her burlap underwear and everything,
except
her high-heeled spikes and helped
The
Earl remove his trousers and his burlap
Underwear,
his watch and tinny and
His
blue suede shoes, but not his woollen, Argyle
Socks,
to shockingly discover they
Had
black and blue bright birthmarks on their genitals,
In
all the shapes and Royal signatures,
And
might be siblings, but just after
Several
moments of traumatically
Shocking
observations, they spontaneously
Did
explore the pleasure-pain
Of
social intercourse and started learning
How
to get entwined and firmly, deeply
And
so lovingly enjoined, thus overcoming
Years
of inhibition and
Just
obviating any need for psychotherapy,
Or
Roman Catholic Catechism,
Or
some blooming Royal bloody
Counselling,
which would have altered all
Spontaneous
activity, allowing
Joy
and Rapture, Love and Happiness,
And
Peace and Ecstasy, forever, eh?”

i believe this poetic form is original, inasmuch as I've never seen it before. however, since there's nothing new under the sun, someone like Ogden Nash may have done it and been afraid to publish it...
ReplyDeleteplease stop destroying wetlands in the name of progress and development! it is important for many species of animals, including homo sapiens.
ReplyDeleteit would be difficult to capture the feelings in this poetry without destroying it.

ReplyDeletewhat if god was a wish made by someone who wants to know everything, an impossible wish held by many people who cannot tolerate chaos?
what if tolerating chaos was a genetically determined trait, like the right or left headedness of us all?
what if god was an image in the brain of someone in a drug, or non-drug induced trance, like the way Joseph Smith envisioned the golden plates and the angels Moroni and Mormoni when he starved himself for 14 days in the woods seeking guidance for his chaotic life influenced by severe psychosis-inducing hypoglycemia?
What if the allegory of Abraham/Ibrahim was smoking hashish when he saw god who gave him instructions about creating a powerful nation of Jews and Arabs by begatting Ishmael and Isaac as an older man?
why do biblical leaders and prophets frequently mention fasting when an important decision is to be made?

incidentally, chanting and listening to the constant beat of drums often induces trances in everyone, even those who profess they can't be hypnotized...
