IT’S NOT DANGEROUS!

A comment on the Zeitgeist, the spirit of our times.

Siz nisht gefehrlickt,”  hatt gezukt, der honig

Finklshtein.  Zein freundt, der shmutzig Offenback,

Hat nisht gefragt, “Vee geht ess, uberall?

Err hatt gezukt, ‘Vee geht ess, uber alles?’

Und err hatte gemeindt, ‘How goes it in

The Fatherland, the Land that’s over everything,

Like in the anthem, DEUTCHLAND, DEUTCHLAND,

UBER ALLES.’  It’s not dangerous,

For we are German Jews and Citizens.

We duly pay our taxes and we work

A lot for food and shelter and our businesses.

We pray in Synagogues for Freedom, Peace

And Happiness.  They will not rob us or

Destroy us.  We are safe!  Amen and Hallelujah.

We’ve even taken on their language and their dialects.  They sometimes, call us Yids.  So what!  We call them Krauts.”  “I have a feeling that’s it’s dangerous, my friend,” insisted Honig Finklshtein.  “I feel it in my bones.”  Unfortunately, he was right and was the first to lose his business and be shipped off with family to camps which claimed that work was freedom.  Shmutzig Offenback was next in line to have his windows smashed and shipped to camps where he, just like the other German Jews were separated from their families and forced to work without a lot of food.

FORGIVE THEM LORD: THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DID AND DO!

The Neo-fascists are a growing factor in the world without a soulful protest from the rest of us and not a lot of loud resistance from the Press and Governments.  Apparently, the Genocides and Wars are on their way.  Perhaps the Second Coming will arrive a little sooner than anticipated.  Perhaps the Floods, Tsunamis, Fire and Brimstone has already heralded the end of Sin and the establishment of Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men and Women and their Progeny.  Amen and Hallelujah!
