BASEBALL IN GERMANY
Eine Geschichte und Kleine Nachtmusik
[A sad serenade of schemes not laid]

By Izzy Ess of Grand Largess

Inclement weather caused the cancelation
Of the baseball game that was to name
The winner of the winter leagues’ gold trophy
Cast in brilliant 18 carat gold,
Depicting Sam Clemente’s golden swing
That won the final game in yesteryear’s
Long competition in the Hinterland
Of Heidelberg.  The army personnel
That staffed the teams were from the USA
And Germany, just like the Second War
Of Europe, just three years before.  Suffice
To say, the skirmishes at second base
Were bloody and injurious.  The wounded
Were rushed off to Heidelberg’s fine hospital,
Der Herzlichen Gebau Spital.
The winner, Germany, relied exclusively
On former SS soldiers who
Were experts at assassination.
USA had several MB League
Great All-Stars, putting in their US Army
Time at Sindelfingen.  Every single
All-Star was dismembered and denied
Resumption of their Major League careers.
The casualties of German origin,
Were feted in the villages as heroes
And immortalized by sacrificial
Rites involving fires and pyres and quagmires.
Though, the League was seriously thinking,
Series, but the War Tribunal at Nuremberg
Court Castle, Schloss and Restaurant,
Put both thumbs down, like ancient Romans and
Original bold Fascists of the Fatherlands
And Motherlands, de facto, re-
Combined, like DNA.  In Galloway,
Narcissus cried and turned away his Lei,
His pay and apoplectic fertile lay.

THE END

  1. for any composures of liturgical music out there, these would be good lyrics for a satirical oratorio!

  2. this could be as controversial as superintendents... i haven't read this since the REVISED SUPERINTENDENTS AND NOW I REALIZE IT'S A BLACK AND WHITE DISTORTION OF THE TRUTH...
