A SAILOR’S JIG
A Silly Sonnette
By Izzy Ess
of Happiness
an Aardvark and an Armadillo
Coming through the rye, would I be so
Surprised that I would greet them as, “Hey, Mr.
Aardvark and, hey, Mrs. Armadillo!
Would you do a dance for me, right now?”
“Of course we would if you but pay us in
Doubloons, cartoons, maroons and brass spittoons.”
I might have compromised and said, “I’ll dance
With each of you, for free, and we will be
In harmony.” With
glee, agreed them both,
And we invited Mr. Manatee
To oversee activities from under
Sea of Gallilee.
Suffice to say,
In Hudson’s Bay, the whalers said, “OK!”
