SAMANTHA-FERNANDO-SALVADOR
A Tale of Tail and Oratorio

Contrived to ring the bell of Salvador,
The matador who dazzled her on Sunday
Afternoon in Old Madrid’s bull-fighting
Ring when he did fling the frightened bull
An hundred feet, or so, to save the life
Of his compatriot, Juan Pedro Lopez,
Threatened by Fernando Toro, angry
Bull around the town.
In fact, Fernando
Had run through two matadors, the other
Week, with gorings that were gory and
So bloody that the audiences had
To leave the stands and go outside and barf.
Suffice to say, Fernando fell in love
With Salvador, the Matador, and had
To fight with Sam for Salvador’s affections.
It was a sight, on Monday, when both Sam
And our Fernando vied for Salvo’s thrusts.
When Sam won out, Fernando looked dejected
When rejected and he dropped his head
In sadness. Salvo saw
his opportunity
And thrust his sword into Fernando’s
Heart so deep that Fernie dropped quite dead
And had to have his head detached to get
Him to the truck which carted him away
To Bully Heaven and the slaughterhouse
Which made him into tasty, fresh, new hamburger.
Samantha, naked by that time,
Accepted Salvador’s great thrusting with
His manly weapon, while the cheering crowd
Commenced to shout, “Ole!” in rhythmic unison,
To match the thrusting of our Salvador.
The manager announced that every Monday,
Sam and Salvo would repeat their actions
For ten pesetas, each, plus one for every
Thrust and counter-thrust.
Madrid drew crowds
From everywhere, in Spain, to see our Sam
And Salvo do a striptease and a Dance
Of Love, the Horizontal Hat Dance, eh?
“Ole!” they’d shout and pay their hard-earned money
For the thrilling, chilling, killing of
Decorum and civility.
Amen!
Samantha and her Salvador took to
The road and thrilled and chilled some audiences,
From the East to West, around the world,
Until Sam died and Salvo lost his potency.
In Mandalay, the audiences mourned
For them, as recently as 1932.
When Salvador, the Matador,
Died of heart strokes, the folks in Spain created
Statues for them both as naked, loving
Partners joined together at their hips
And lips. The spirit
of Fernando did
Some flips. Most
Spaniards surely, Shirley, hid.
