A Poem in Iambic Pentametre

Worthy of an Oratorio

Samantha Sedgewick was an evil woman.

While admonishing her husband, Kevin,

For his lavish spending habits, she

Sequestered thousands by retailing household

Furniture, accessories and silverware,

Which were the pricey wedding gifts they had

Received from kith and kin, replacing them

With goods she bought at Goodwill, or Salvation

Army Store.  Samantha craftily

Had duplicated diamond wedding rings

And diamond earrings and her diamond necklace,

Selling the originals for over

Hundred thousand dollars.  Kevin was

Surprised to find his Jaguar stolen, Sam

Had claimed, when in reality, Samantha

Had it sold without his knowledge and

Had put aside the money in her secret

Place.  Her Kevin sent a claim into

His new insurance agent who investigated

And discovered Sam’s whole scheme.

He kept it to himself.  The agent, Thomas

Bentley, had his evil eye on Sam

And he arranged to meet with her one afternoon

At Avondale Hotel and Spa.

They chatted quietly while he revealed

He knew what she was doing.  Scared of being

Forced to tell poor Kevin, she decided

To seduce the handsome Tom and try

Persuading him to keep his silence.  Tom

Was tempted to accept her sexy offer,

And he lay with Sam that afternoon

In Avondale Hotel’s most costly suite,

Completely paid for by Samantha.  Thomas

Promised her he would not tell her Kevin,

If Samantha met him once a week

In nice hotels in Napa Valley.  Sam

Agreed.  In fact, Samantha was quite bored

With passive Kevin and preferred this most

Aggressive, greedy Thomas.  So, it was,

That Sam and Kevin gave up sex while Sam

And Tom pursued their evil rendezvous.

A neighbour, Suzan Jones, a lonely handsome

Shapely widow noticed handsome Kevin

Home, alone a lot, especially when

Samantha and her lusty Tom had escalated

Their arrangement to three times

A week, which now included afternoons

And evenings and some overnights.  Our Kevin

Seemed to think it was a sign that his

Long childless marriage was a bust and would

End soon in separation and divorce.

Samantha and her evil Tom had both

Agreed, that giving simple Kevin walking

Papers, was a way to kill the golden

Goose.  The neighbour, Suzan, and her target,

Kevin, started spending quite some time

Together at her house, alone and sure

Enough, they started making gentle, loving

Sexy love.  By starting slowly, weekly,

Kevin and his loving Suzan, raised

The ante, and the passion, rather quickly

To the point where they were jumping on

Each other, in her home, at least once every

Day.  Our Suzan found that asking Kevin

Of the whereabouts of Sam, increased

His anger and his passion greatly.  Kevin

Liked, and grew to love, the sexiness

Of Suzan’s seeming passive attitude

Which switched to passion when he rammed his angry

Manhood home.

About a year went by

Before Samantha noticed changes in

Her husband.  He was smiling all the time.

She checked her secret cache of money and

Discovered it was safe.  However, Kevin

Spotted her and later checked it out.

Amazed, he grabbed the bundled cash and ran

To Suzan, asking for asylum.  She,

Of course agreed she’d hide him with the fortune

In her home, until they could agree

On what to do.  Within a week, they settled

On a dash to Mexico.  Ms. Suzan

And her Kevin bought a villa in

A mountain town of Buena Vista.  With

The Suzan’s nest egg and their combined Social

Security incomes, they would live

In Peace and Happiness for many years.

Samantha had to cease her sponsorship

Of Thomas, as her money and her patsy

Husband had just vanished.  Thomas vanished,

Too.  The Lord arranged with Thor to have

Samantha struck by lightening.  Only crispy

Tissues could be found.  Our Saviour at

His Father’s Side, moved both the plates beneath

The seas to cause a tremour in the town

Of Sausalito, where our Thomas occupied

His office.  Thomas and his office

Fell to Hell, between the cracks that opened

Quickly, and then closed.  Our Lord approved

His Son’s adept maneuver.  Thomas didn’t

Have a chance in Hell.  Escaping was

Impossible.  In time, he burnt like Sam.

I hope I don’t misquote my Hero of the Day:

The best laid schemes o’ mice and men gang oft

Agley.  Samantha and her Thomas went

Astray when destiny completely bent.
