SYNAPSES AND SPELLING ARE

FOR TEACHERS AND EDITORS

[and not for those that wax poetic]

Lyrics for an Oratorio, I propose…

Synaptically speaking, I like German

Where the verbs are saved to end a sentence.

And, Germans are like other people, save

For Neo-Fascists who appear in many

Other countries and insist that making

Mankind perfect means a weeding out

Of those with imperfections.  Imperfections

Being what they are, that means just everyone,

Of course, except the blue-eyed blond-

Haired folks.  I’m white-haired now, while as a youth,

I looked about as Ayrian as anyone,

Despite my being Jewish, eh?

It isn’t clear to me why being Jewish,

Muslim, Buddhist, Taoist, Hindu means

Such imperfection that the penalty

Is death, but neither does possession of

Big floppy ears and a big nose, make sense

To me.  Initiation of World Wars

And Genocide are not so justifiable

If threatened folks have pimples or big feet.

Perhaps my memory is bad, but I

Recall that War and Genocide had much

To do with oil control and land possession.

Everyone assumed that Jews and others

Were exterminated for their land

And gold, the propaganda notwithstanding.

Power-mongers of the world are wont

To call themselves just perfect while their victims

Are imperfect and entitled to

Be blown away.  Obama would appear

To be benevolent, but lately has revealed

That he is prying on just everyone

And actually, I think, he blew away

Osama.  There was none of Christian-like

Behaviour.  A Forgiveness was not offered

And the evidence of Laden’s death

Was squirreled away, in secret vaults, like JFK’s.

In history, a shaky document,

At best, benevolence of dictators

Occurred, but it is hard to document.

Some writers say that Franco was

Benevolent in Spain and barely tolerated

Hitler’s notions of a Fascist

State and German goals of Earthly

Domination using Genocide and Mass

Destructive armories.  Success was imminent

Until he erred, misjudging kindnesses

Of English Channel fishermen

And harshnesses of winters in the Moscow

Suburbs.  Emperors in Tokyo

Were also bent on Earthly domination

And just joined A. Hitler but they really

Erred because they didn’t know Americans

Would drop those deadly bombs, not once, but twice,

Which wiped out instantaneously their

Huge populations in the towns of Hiroshima,

Nagasaki and for years

To come, caused illnesses that killed and maimed.

Synaptic faculties are strained when I

Write poetry.  I tend to go in circles,

Not straight lines.  However, I am good

With IAMBS and can fit them to a five

Beat line, though sometimes it is difficult…               

Dear reader, please allow some errors in

My syntax and most probably some facts.

My aim is entertainment and some education

That is accidentally

Implied.  The rhyming couplet at the end

Is de rigeur.  I’m bound to Shirley bend.
